Tree roots in a sewer line are one of those problems that sneak up on you. Drains start running slow, then backing up, and most homeowners assume it's just a clog. Sometimes it is. But sometimes - like on this Albany job - there's something more going on underground that no amount of snaking is going to fix.

We got called out for a sewer blockage and knew pretty quickly that we needed to dig. Once we excavated and got eyes on the line, we found the real culprit: a compromised clamp where the pipe connection had failed. Roots had worked their way in right at that weak point. That kind of damage can't be cleared with a drain cleaning alone - it has to be exposed and repaired properly.

This is exactly why we don't guess. Clearing a symptom without finding the cause just means the same call comes back in a few months. Getting down to the actual problem - even when that means bringing in excavation equipment - is what gets a line working right again and keeps it that way.

The homeowner was great to work with, and walking away with two thumbs up at the end of the day is exactly what we're after. Sewer work isn't glamorous, but solving the problem the right way makes it worth it every time.

If your drains are slow or you're dealing with backups that keep coming back, don't ignore it. What's happening below the surface is usually more than what it looks like from inside the house.
